Toy Review - Transformer Rescue Bots

Playskool Transformers Rescue Bots Fire Station Prime Review

By Susan Dowey, Publisher Macaroni Kid Walnut Creek September 29, 2011

When my children were younger, it was sometimes hard to find toys that had the appeal of the build-it-yourself transformer robots.  Those toys were usually for kids over the age of 6 or 7.   For kids who are ages 3 – 6, Playskool Heroes series has a toy that provides the inspiration for interactive, creative play with the Transformer Rescue Bots Fire Station Prime.  Playskool sent me the toy for a review to share with my Macaroni Kid readers.

The toy includes the Fire Station Prime, Heatwave The Fire-Bot vehicle, Cody Burns figure, Firing Water Cannon and a story book that helps bring the set to life.  The station includes a Hero Elevator, Spin Down Fire Pole, a vehicle launcher, and a rescue command center.

The Fire Station has so many features for kids to use their imagination.  The large dial above the second level turns easily to transform the Fire Station Prime to a Transformer Rescue Bot complete with 12 voice commands and siren lights.  Fireman Cody Banks can spin down the fire pole and hop into the fire truck.  The fire truck easily converts to a Heatwave Fire-Bot by setting the vehicle in a standing position.   Put the Fire-Bot on the elevator for access to the top floor of the station.  Kids can aim the water cannon at the flames on the fire training tower.   The plastic water jet pops out and knocks down the flames.  The water cannon can be attached to the top of the building or on the fire truck.   All these features are designed for young hands to successfully manipulate them for loads of fun.

The Fire Station Prime also folds up and latches for easy storage and portability.  Children might need a little help to get the toy folded and latched securely.  Another great feature of this toy is that it doesn’t require any assembly beyond inserting the water cannon into one of the building or vehicle holes.   The toy doesn't have lots of pieces that can go missing either, another big plus!  A grown-up can read the included story book at the beginning of play to help give children ideas for interactive play.   Additional Rescue Bots can be purchased to add more fun.  These include Chase the Police-Bot, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

This toy is a great choice for kids in the 3 to 6 year age range.  There are lots of cool features that will keep them busy having fun.  You can get more information about the Transformer Rescue Bots Fire Station Prime at PlayskoolHeroes.com and Facebook.com/Playskool
